Appaling Ser!vice And A Disgrace
I usually attend “feeds” and other homeless events throughout the year. I mostly do it because I still feel attached to that community even though I am housed. Feeds are places that feed people for free hot or cold meals. These feeds are mostly for the homeless but people of limited means or previously housed still attend them. Most of the feeds are located in the downtown metro area in Denver where I live.
I subscribe to a place called Nextdoor because it is a classified ad site for your neighborhood. It has regular classifieds for things you want to sell, job offers, and local events. My favorite thing on the site is the free items tab. If you have anything you want to give away for free you list there. They also have a crime link for authorities or concerned citizens to list information. I think it is a great community place to participate in.
I was on this site when I saw a posting about a hungry homeless person. I have the link above but I will try to summarize what I read. There was a homeless person who went to a restaurant and asked to see the menu but he was refused. The told he to leave immediately but he was actually being accompanied by a paying customer who invited him there. I would understand if he had asked for free food and/or was panhandling at their place of business, but to treat them bad when they have done nothing wrong speaks about your character and values.
When you are homeless it is embarrassing enough that you are hungry but to be humiliated for it makes you feel worse. I understand that some people are in this situation at their cost but it does mean they deserve to be mistreated. I wanted to post the information of this restaurant to teach them a lesson but I will contact them privately to let them know that they are being reconsidered as a place to dine it because of their lack of compassion.
