Here are a couple of the things I sold at the festival. Most of them are under my products page.

Ella Blast

This is an 8×11 print of an actual art piece that was collage, acrylic, and stitched. This is a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. I think of her voice being strong enough to blast into space for everyone to enjoy.

I learned a lot from this event. You need to keep cash whether you want it or not. Always carry business cards. Also, set up a clear inventory sheet to keep track of sales. Get a better-organized way to display your items. Have a separate storage container for your items. A co-artist suggested, “freeze a bottle of water the night before”, I thought that was helpful too. Then remember that everyone has their own selling style.

Finding A Purpose

Starting a project, career, or a business is a big step in life for what I call normal people. To start as a person coming from mental illness, substant abuse, and homelessness is even more challenging. I want to write to get my voice and others heard as a project that may turn into something bigger. I want a career in technology because I enjoy learning about it and having an excuse to have the latest. I also would like to start my own business which will help the homeless with everyday needs and give back to a community that I came from. This is a lot to ask a person who is already middle-aged and just starting to see the potential of life. Here I go anyway.

I want a project that can last forever or just for now and it will be writing. I want to write either professionally or just to have readers that understand where I am coming from. I started this blog a while ago but wasn’t sure if I should keep this name or change it to a more professional one. I want to make it original by giving it its own address. I want to talk about whatever I find interesting or just what my day is like. I may even start a small series where I need followers. I am not sure but this writing may be just the thing I need to put myself where I feel that I can be heard by everyone. I want comments, criticism, and advice from whoever has an opinion. My project could just be this blog or writing a book but whatever it is, it will help me through this tough time.

I want a career in technology because I enjoy using it. This area is vast because it is ever-changing and in almost everyone’s life today. I got offered a training for a certification in this field. I am not sure how far I should go but I at least want some of the toys that will come with the career. I also would like to do some work with people that don’t have experience and bring them up to date, maybe for a minimal price. I think this would help with my project and a small business as well because technology is going to keep progressing and I want to be near the top of that field. A career in technology help desk or something similar might be the perfect job for me and leave me plenty of time for other things.

Here is the biggest thing I want in my life, a small business. I want to make some items to sell to keep a little money in my pocket. I want to use most of the money to help the homeless community. I also want to help my family with something they can do without stressing themselves out. Maybe, I could have a distribution place here (my home), and have one in California (where my family lives). The worst that can happen is that I will only have time for an online store and not for two locations. It is hard to say if any of this will get going. I have the time right now to make some crafts from home to sell but my mental conditions slow me down. This is a dream I want to fulfill.

My mental issues may not allow me to do all the things I want. I can probably write and doing some crafts but a career may be out of my reach. I will not give up on my dreams because there are plenty of people who have dreams and are afraid to pursue them because they are afraid to fail. I found out from one of my weekly groups/classes is that I might have a talent for writing. I know I am good with technology and helping people. I know I can sharpen my crafting skill. Most importantly, will I let myself be discouraged by the obstacles that may hold me down for the rest of my life? The simple answer is no! My mental conditions and other issues are things I will have to work on daily. I will keep my dreams alive.

My Carnival Cruise Experience

A friend of mine set up a cruise for her husband’s birthday. She invited lots of people talked to a Carnival representative to set up the whole trip. Most people use travel agents or separate companies to schedule a cruise and airfare. My friend had little experience with using other sources so it makes sense to utilize a well-known company for their expertise to schedule with them. The trip was to go from Long Beach to Catalina Island and stop at Ensenada, Mexico then return.

The representative from Carnival name “J” handled everything and assured her that he was capable of making everything happen for her. He said he could answer all her questions and all she needed to do is to pay at the deadline and all things would be assume. She advised him that she had two children that she was bringing on the trip and he assured her that as long as the children didn’t get off the boat there were no documents needed for them.

I think everyone should do some type of crafts because they are very therapeutic. I can sew small things like blankets for babies or sweaters for dogs. I have a friend that likes to make necklaces because he relaxes him. My sister told me of a woman who recycles clothes and shoes by swapping pieces from each other. There are people who make greeting cards by hand and others decorate. No matter what it is everyone can benefit from crafts.

I was searching the web for an easy herbal neck pillow for a manly man who has these tension headaches from his neck. I saw this article and thought he would love this. My friend is very practical, he uses socks for rags to clean anyway so what better for him is a sock for a neck pillow. I will make another for him but for the meantime. He could start with this. Doggie Clothes

I made a dog sweater for my neighbor’s dog. I took an old shirt and refashioned it. I think I would sew more if I recycled clothes. I have been watching a few ladies on YouTube who reuse material Coolirpa, and Mimi G. Style.

I found someone that I know who does their own thing at home. Aramis Williams. She has her own shop on Etsy called XnithiPrints.

I started this blog post last year thinking of ways I could work from home that would be enjoyable to me. Since then we got a new president that is sending missiles to Syria.

This is a reminder that we don’t have long to focus on the things we love most and make money in a way that will be hard for the president to destroy.

Working at Home

I wrote this blog on one my other blogs because there was an advertisement in it. I am not sure how ads work on here and I am not sure if this is what I want for this blog. I do want to talk about the post.

Work from home, work at home, work at home moms, and others like this are terms that I have seen all over the net. I believe this is the new norm for people. Working at brick and mortar places may end due to this technology age where you use web conferencing and Skype calls to handle most of your business. I have seen purchases made on tablets and smartphones. Of course, you can put payment buttons in emails or websites from companies like Paypal.

I do some freelancing and contractor work from time to time. I also sell items on eBay and on my website too. I have this blog and I vlog on YouTube as well, but I haven’t quite found anything that will bring in a residual income that I am satisfied with.

I am an Avon rep, but that is really hard work with no car and limited friends that have the same situation. Don’t get me wrong, I remember a few years ago when I had a car and a good paying job I did thrive pretty well until it was too hard for one person to handle. I like the products and the business, but it was setup for you to visit clients at their home to deliver books, take their orders, and deliver their orders. This consists of three visits to their home per transaction. Most of the customers don’t do the internet or electronic devices so it won’t help someone like me out.

I want something where I can do something simple, make a little money, and help others out too. I would love to find something that isn’t a pyramid setup or referral program. Now they call them affiliate programs. These are okay, but you still doing the same thing, you can get residual income by bringing people in as customers or as affiliates. One day I will get a handle on it.

What is Bitcoin?

My understanding is that this is a form of currency not connected to banks and you don’t need credit for it. You get a wallet for the bitcoin and choose a secure place for the wallet. You can use your tablet, computer, or smartphone. All you do is send it from peer to peer.

Which Wallet to Use?

I went to Bitcoin and found there are lots to wallets to choose from. I think I have here of one of them, but this system is new to me. I want to participate in this system to get money, but you need to trust the company you get the wallet from. You need to know details of how long they have been working and if there have been any issues.

Which Device?

I use my desktop a lot. I have lost my laptop so I can’t use that. I do have a couple of smartphones. My problem with using my smartphone is that I have lent it out several times. I would have to change my swipe code and other security measures. It probably is time to do that anyway.

Conclusion

There is a lot of information to learn about this new system for currency. I need to find out which wallet, what device to use, and decide whether to use this for my business or not. I am new to this, hopefully, I can find someone that knows more about this.
